The Oesophageal Clinic provides a high standard of care for private patients, with a wide range of oesophageal diseases. Our highly trained and qualified clinical team is based in the midlands and specialises in the assessment, diagnosis and management of oesophageal diseases. Our aim is to provide a rapid and thorough assessment of patients’ symptoms followed by expert consideration, and a decision on a course of treatment or further investigation such as endoscopic and radiological examinations of the oesophagus and the functional assessment of the oesophageal motility and acid exposure.
Our specialist services include endoscopy, radiology and oesophageal manometry and Ph and bile studies, dietary advice and the assessment of patients for anti-reflux surgery. We are committed to achieving the best possible outcome for our patients. And, by treating them in a friendly and professional manner we seek to make the experience as stress-free as possible.

- Barrett’s Oesophagus
- Family history of oesophageal cancer
- Patients wishing to be considered for anti-reflux surgery
What treatments are available?
To ensure accurate diagnosis and assessment of the oesophagus, usually with sedation, but this can be offered on an individual basis.
Oesophageal manometry and PH studies
To assess oesophageal motility and establish if symptoms correlate with acid/bile reflux.
To assess oesophagus and also look for non-oesophageal pathology (such as gall stones).
Services include referral for Halo ablation.
Advice regarding surveillance
For patients diagnosed with Barrett’s oesophagus.
Advice regarding dietary manipulation
For patients with functional dyspepsia.
Other specialist services include gastric emptying studies, lower GI endoscopy, virtual colonoscopy, MRI and CT scanning, ano-rectal physiology, nutritional therapy and bio-feedback.
Clinics are run on a weekly basis. The patient will be advised of the available appointment.
This clinic is provided by Dr. David Aldulaimi and Mr Paul Super and supported by Ms Kathy Noble. Dr David Aldulaimi and Mr Paul Super are consultants, with long-standing interests in oesophageal symptoms and diseases. Ms Kathy Noble is an accredited GI physiologist based at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.
The clinic is also supported by consultant cardiologists, consultant surgeons with an interest in ear, nose and throat disorders (Mr Chris Ayshford, Mr Lance Hollis) a team of radiologists and a registered dietician.
